Distribution: MEXICO: Hidalgo, Queretaro

Habitat: in xerophytic shrub-lands and at margins of low caducifolious forests, always onsteep rock walls, 800-1600 m. Elev.

Phenology: Hechtia argenteaflowers from April to June,although under cultivation the flowering period can begin aslate as November (male plants) when the peduncle and com-pacted branches develop, extending into December when themajority of flowers open. Older rosettes can produce up to fourinflorescences simultaneously; male rosettes have a longerflowering period than female ones, as previously reported forHechtia schottiiBaker (Ramírez-Morillo & al., 2008), anotherspecies belonging to the same clade asHechtia glomerata(Ramírez-Morillo & al., 2018a).
