Distribution: BRAZIL; Bahia

Habitat: Grows in shady localities in primary or advanced secondary forest remnants, 600 - 900 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name chosen for Aechmea viridipetala is a reference to the color of its petals, which have a white base and green apex.

Phenology: Floral buds and flowers in December and fruits in April.
