Distribution: BRAZIL; Espirito Santo,

Habitat: high-elevated area in the domain of the Atlantic Forest, on shallow organic soil accumulated on granitic outcrops. The new taxon was growing fully exposed to sunlight, forming small groups of plants., 1050-1100 m. Elev.

Etymology: Orthophytum boudetianum is named after one of its collectors, Helio de Queiroz Boudet Fernandes, the Director of the Museu de Biologia Prof. Mello Leitao and Curator of the Herbarium MBML.. Prof. Boudet Fernandes has contributed greatly to the botanical knowledge of Espirito Santo State, and so found this new species together with other researchers of the Museum
