Habitat: over 800 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name C. selloana is a tribute to its collector, German botanist Friedrich Sellow (1789-1831), son of the court gardener of Sans-Souci, Carlos Julius Samuel Sella. The change in the original spelling from "Sella" to "Sellow" occurred when this botanist came to Brazil (Hoehne et al., 1941). But both are legitimate, so the correction proposed by Mez in 1896 is not warranted.
