Habitat: epiphytic in primary forest, 250 m. Elev.

Etymology: Ths species is dedicated to Dipl. - Biol. N. Koster, one of the discoverers.

Phenology: - Aechmea koesteri begins flowering at the beginning of February that corresponds the last of the temporary dry season in the region. At the moment of flowering the upper leaves change from green to a brilliant rosy purple, whicht suggests pollination by means of hummingbirds, ignoring the creamish green colour of the petals.
