Habitat: wet scrub forest, 2900-3200 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet honors Thomas Hoijer of the Bergius Botanic Gardens in Stockholm, Sweden, discoverer and co-discoverer of many orchids and quite a few bromeliads.
