Distribution: BRAZIL; Pernambuco,

Phenology: flowers from June to November. Although this plant is typically bat-pollinated, in Serra do Oro¬ruba the hummingbird, Amazilia fimbriata, often visits these flow¬ers around 9 a.m. when nectar is still available. The capsules pro¬duce a huge number of seeds, with falciform wings that aid in wind dispersal.
