Distribution: Although believed initially that A. roberto-kautskyi had restricted distribution it was observed that the species is well distributed throughout the Northwest portion of ES. Grows as heliophyte on vertical walls 300-900 m s.m., in Baixo Guandu, Pancas and Santa Teresa (ES). And cited for Sao Roque do Canaa (Leme 2009b) and Sierra (Leme et al. 2010), both municipalities of Espírito Santo. The material cited by Versieux (2009) for Almenara, Pedra Azul, Pedra Grande and Santa Maria do Salto, Minas Gerais, and here treated as A. cerosa. Alcantarea roberto-kautskyi can be included in the low-risk status by reason of its distribution and, mainly, its occurrence in areas of difficult access, with very large populations.
