Habitat: 700-1,200 m. Elev.

Etymology: The Latin term apiculatus means provided with a "short point or apiculus". In the case of N. apiculatum it refers to the apiculate apex of the leaves and sepals as stated in the protologue.

Phenology: This species flowers from December to May.
