Tillandsia Boryana Gand. and Tillandsia Smithiana Carabia (Bromeliaceae): a mystery resolved and a correction in synonymy

Abstract:—The type specimen of Tillandsia boryana was found in the herbarium of the Universite Claude Bernard in Lyon (LY) and this species is herby referred to the synonymy of T.fasciculata var. venosispica. A few additional types of Tillandsia from LY are also reported. Tillandsia smithiana from Cuba, currently treated as a synonymy of T.fendleri, is reduced to the synonymy of T.deppeana, the latter now recognized to have a disjunct distribution in the gulf area of Central Mexico and Central Cuba.
