Abstract:—As a tillandsia collector you are always on the lookout for something new. Winter is always a quiet time; there is very little or nothing happening in the relevant shops in terms of new products, and the number of posts on social media is also noticeably decreasing. Calm before spring... And yet, sometimes you can be lucky! At the end of 2021, a very strange Tillandsia tectorum ‘XXL‘ appeared at Dötterer – our leading tillandsia shop in Germany. Tillandsia tectorum is commonly thought of as snow-white, large Tillandsia, but the plants shown did not correspond at all to my idea of an ‘XXL‘-Tectorum. They were far too green, with thin, almost filamentous leaves, but they were flowering plants. With „tectorum“, „green“ and obviously „without stem“ it rang a bell for me, maybe they could be...?
