Abstract:—When starting his work with Cactaceae and Bromeliaceae of Brazil in the early 1970s, Eddie Esteves Pereira discovered several botanic novelties in the Northern and Northeastern regions of the state of Goiás. One of his discoveries was the decorative species described in this paper. Obviously, the species belongs to a group including species like Encholirium longiflorum Leme (1995), Encholirium eddie-estevesii Forzza (2002) and Encholirium josinoi-narcisae P. J. Braun & Esteves (2018). The latter seems to be the closest phylogenetic and geographical relative. The main differences are outlined in Tab. 1.
