German title:—Dyckia vilsonii und Dyckia apiunensis – zwei neue gelbblühende Arten aus Santa Catarina, Süd-Brasilien

Abstract:—Back in 2007, September 20th, Constantino Gastaldi from Joinville/Santa Catarina (Brazil) discovered near the road BR 470 an interesting, to him unknown Dyckia. Even after long search he found only few individuals. His interest was aroused, but only years later it was Dr. Vilson Müller from Santa Catarina who was able to find a large population of this species some 14 km apart, growing on the high cliffs of the Morro Dois Bernardi.
On September 1st 2018 Constantino Gastaldi, Jorge Luiz Wolff and Dr. Vilson Müller dared again to climb. Unfortunately that day it was raining heavily, what made the difficult climb much more laborious and dangerous. Despite the rainy and cold weather they could reach the plants. Already years ago Dr. Vilson Müller had found the population high above at the rocks, but at that time they were not in flower. This time crossing the dense forest at the base of the mountain and the climb at the slippery cliffs should be rewarded. Regardless the soaking wetness the dyckias could be reached and the sight of the imposant, over 2 m long inflorescences bearing bright sulfur-yellow flowers compensated for the exertions. On September 19th 2018 with much better weather the plants could be revisited and studied in habitat.
