Abstract:—This new Deuterocohnia which is remarkable for its large primary bracts is similar to D. brevispicata Rauh & L. Hromadnik (Rauh 1988). However, the latter differs by its much shorter primary bracts, its carmine red, sparsely lepidote sepals, and its longer, carmine red petals which are green in the apical fourth part. Moreover, D. brevispicata is inhabiting open places on moderately declined slopes at ca. 1300 m s.m. in the Serrania Incahusai under much warmer and frost-free conditions.
