Abstract:—Tillandsia delicata R. EHLERS is a new species growing epiphytically in Oaxaca, Mexico, 1200—1700 m. Similar to T. kolbii and T. ionantha var. scaposa it differs in following characteristics: height up to 15 cm, forming a dense pseudobulb; leaves longer, erect. not twisted, subsucculent; sheats distinct; inflorescence distichous, broader, red; floral bracts red, longer (2—3 x) than the sepals, broad ovate, adaxially fineiy lepidote, abaxially glabrous, petals longer (up to 2 x), light-violet with light tips, antheres exceeding the petals. Due to different characteristics and separated habitats it is proposed to assess T. ionantha var. scaposa as a species T. scaposa L.B. SMITH, and to maintain T. kolbii as a species as well.
