Abstract:—A new subspecies from Jujuy (Argentina), Deuterocohnia meziana subsp. vallegrandensis is des - cribed and illustrated, and a map with its geographical distribution is presented. This subspecies is clear - ly distinguished by its brown purple sepals, petals of the same colour or reddish with greenish apex. This record represents the first report of the species for the Argentinean Flora. A key for Deuterocohnia from Argentina, together with a comparative table with the characters that distinguish the five subspecies of D. meziana is included. A lectotype is designated for Deuterocohnia meziana .
