Abstract:—This new species was found at the pacific coast of northern Mexico, near Puerto Vallarta. Using the key of L. B. Smith you will come to T. maritima, now synonym to T. roland- gosselinii. From this species T. pacifica differs by scape bracts up to 30 cm long, strongly complanate spikes, nerved and lepidote flower bracts, half connated posterior sepals and much smaller petals,- from T. polystachia by long petiolated spikes with much longer primary bracts, strongly carinate, lepidote, longer flower bracts with a hooked tip, 1/3 longer than the sepals. T. pacifica is also somewhat similar to T. elizabethae: T. pacifica has no succulent leaves, the scape bracts are recurvate, not erect; the inflorescence has more spikes, the flower bracts are greenish-yellow with red margins and tips, the sepals are shorter, the petals are unicoloured violet, with stamens exserted
