Viridantha yagulensis (Ehlers) Hern.-Cárdenas, Espejo & López-Ferr.  diagnose
plant rupicolous, rarely epiphytic, caulescent, when in bloom 8–10 cm high, 10–12 cm diarneter at its widest rosettes solitary or caespitose, spherical in shape. leaves more than 35, recurved, shorter than the inflorescence; sheath dark yellow on both surfaces, oblong, 1.5–2 cm long, 0.8-l cm wide, the apical half lepidote on the adaxial surface, three quarters of the apical abaxial surface lepidote; blade white-greyish, narrow triangular to linear, 5.5–7.5 cm long, 3.5–5 mm wide, long attenuate apex. inflorescence pedunculate, erect, compound, with 5–7 spikes, inconspicuous peduncle, 1–2 cm long, 5–6 mm diameter, covered by the bracts; peduncle bracts longer than the inflorescence; spikes red-pink, flattened, elliptical, 2–3 cm long, 0.8–1 cm wide; 3–4 flowers per spike; floral bracts with red-pink tints towards the apex, yellow toward the base, elliptical, 1.5–2 cm long, 0.7–1 cm wide when extended and flattened, apex acute short acuminate; conspicuously veined, carinate, lepidote on abaxial surface. flowers: sepals tinged pink towards the apex, green-yellow toward the base, elliptical to ovate, 1.2–1.5 cm long, 4–5 mm wide when extended and flattened, apex acute short acuminate, at least the 2 adaxial ones carinate, the abaxial surface lepidote; petals 2.2–2.5 cm long, 3–3.5 mm wide, apex rounded, somewhat rccurved. stamens: filament 1.2–1.5 cm long; anther light green colour, 2.5–3 mm long, ovary ellipsoid narrow oblong, 3–3.5 mm long, 2–2.5 mm diameter. pistil: style 1–1.5 cm long. fruits not seen.
