leaves 80 in a rosette, pliable, lanceolate, above a foot long, 1½ - 2 in; broad, tinged with claret-brown. inflorescence: peduncle much overtopping the reflexing-leaves; fertile part a panicle 1½ - 2 ft; long, with many dense erecto-patent multifarious branches; floral bracts ovate-lanceolate, red-yellow, 1¼ in; long. flowers: calyx as long as the flower-bract; corolla yellow, 1/3 in; longer than the calyx. pistil: style exserted beyond the corolla.
