leaves ensiform-¬acuminate, a foot long, rigidly coriaceous, densely finely lepidote. inflorescence: peduncle shorter than the leaves, hidden by its bract-leaves; fertile part a short panicle; spikes dense, sessile, 3–4-nate, 6–8 in; long, ½ to 5/8 in; broad, straight or arcuate; floral bracts ovate-lanceolate, 5/8–3/4 in; long. flowers: petals greenish. stamens not longer than the petals.
