leaves not seen. inflorescence: peduncle and rachis much stouter than in any of the other species; panicle above a foot long, lax, copiously twice-branched; rachis very zigzag; branches spreading or deflexed, central 2–3 in; long; branch-bracts large, oblong-lanceolate; final spikes dense, the end ones 1–1 ½ in; long. flowers erecto-patent; floral bracts ovate, acute, 1/6 in; long, brown-pubescent, like the rachises; sepals oblong, obtuse, ¼ in; long; petal-blade minute, oblong, reflexing.
